A Fantastic Evening

Speakeasy Soiree

The Greatest Generation is truly one of our nation’s most precious treasures, especially those men and women of that generation who served in World War II. Within the next five to seven years those veterans, approximately 550 of whom pass away each day, will be alive only in our memories and our history books.

It is our wish to give each of these remarkable heroes a very special honor while they are still with us. When these brave men and women returned home from their grueling service, most were returned quickly to “normal” life, raising families and working hard. The Honor Flight Organization seeks to provide a well-deserved day of honor to these heroes, as a small gift of gratitude for their service. The day begins with a charter flight to Washington, D.C. The veterans tour the War Memorials and attend a special ceremony; beneath the Stars and Stripes this beautiful tribute pays honor to their great sacrifices and the memories they carry to this day. They participate in a “mail call,” filled with letters and post cards from well-wishers. As they return, their plane lands to the cheers of family, friends, and men and women in uniform welcoming them home.

Our goal is to send an entire plane of World War II veterans on the Greater St. Louis Honor Flight. We, along with our dear friends at the Northwest Chamber of Commerce, are investing a great deal of time and resources to make this happen and we invite you to join us.

This Saturday, November 21, we will present the Speakeasy Soiree and Auction. It promises to be an evening filled with great fun and excitement. Black-tie attire is optional. The doors of the The Moolah Shrine Temple Grand Ballroom will open at 6:00 pm with hors d’oeuvres and an open bar. A delicious dinner of Italian salad, rolls, Chicken Marsala, fettuccini alfredo, chateau potatoes, and amaretto glazed carrots will be served at 7:00 pm, then topped off with scrumptious cake.

Throughout the evening, there will be two sections filled with silent auction items! The Ziegfeld Follies Silent Auction Section boasts 65 items, including vouchers for various services, trips and nights out, and several exciting baskets filled with goodies like games, snacks, tools, and so much more! The Gatsby Silent Auction Section also has 65 items, including Cardinals and Blues items, diamond earrings, and several trips. Over a dozen Live Auction items go on the block at 9:15. Don’t miss the chance to bid on several luxury trips, an appearance on the Dave Glover Show, the cutest PUPPY you’ve ever seen and much more. What a perfect place to begin your holiday shopping!

Tickets, tables, as well as VIP tables that feature valet parking, a private waiter and an exclusive gift can be purchased here or you may call the Northwest Chamber of Commerce at 314-291-2131 for information. If you are unable to attend, there are two simple ways you can help contribute to this worthy cause. Please do share this blog and our event with your family, friends, coworkers, etc. Also, visit the GoFundMe page to make a donation of any size. Remember that every dollar counts and helps make this a dream come true.

We would like to say, “Thank you!” to all those who have helped this cause. Most importantly, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all those who have served our country, including the WWII veterans we seek to honor.
