The Top 10 Questions You Should Ask Your Electrical Contractor (Part 2)

Hiring an Electrical contractor

Last week, we shared several important questions that you should ask before hiring an electrician. Let’s wrap up that list with five more that you don’t want to neglect.

  1. What training do your electricians have?

Again, training and experience are vital. Branham guarantees that your job will be serviced by one of our certified journeyman electricians. Each of our electricians has completed the Independent Electrical Contractor’s four-year program, which is certified by the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training. This program includes 688 hours of classroom training, 192 hours of lab time, and 8000 hours of on-the-job training with a 1:1 journeyman-to-apprentice ratio. We also regularly attend continuing education classes.

  1. How do you ensure commitment to safety?

The above mentioned training program also includes annual drug testing, which we continue throughout employment, and OSHA 10 certification. OSHA 10 certification ensures that each person at Branham Electric understand how to recognize, avoid, abate and prevent safety and health hazards in the workplace. All of our leadsmen and project managers are PPE/ARC Flash certified and carry full protection. We have won numerous safety awards from the IEC, CNA, and ABC for taking our safety program to the highest standards. We are also a PICS certified electrical contractor.

  1. Are you licensed, insured and/or bonded?

We are licensed, insured, and bonded. This means that the professionals providing service to you are well trained with a great deal of experience and all the appropriate certifications and ongoing education. It also means that you are protected from any issues that arise if an accident or problem occurs. Hiring any kind of contractor without the appropriate safeguards in place is a dangerous proposition.

  1. Can you provide references?

The short answer is “yes!” We can provide you with an unlimited supply of testimonials and information on numerous projects we have completed. We also are rated as an A+ Accredited Business with the Better Business Bureau, having had zero complaints filed. We have many reviews on Angie’s List. Our partners, with whom we work regularly, stand behind our strong history and excellent service. We are also proud that our team has earned many awards, including the Ameren Missouri Platinum Trade Ally, St. Louis Small Business Monthly’s awards for “Best in Quality,” and “Most Reliable,” and the IEC’s “Excellence in Electrical Contracting – Efficient Energy Retrofit.”

  1. How do I know the job will be done right?

The answers to questions ten through two should leave you with a strong sense of any company’s abilities and dedication to a job well done. However, we understand that you may need just a bit more assurance. For this reason, we invite you to give us a call at 636-926-2001 to discuss how we can meet your specific needs in a timely and efficient manner.
